Poole: Very appropriately named
I didn’t escape the town before the rain clouds started to burst, and despite the good reputation of my Scott waterproofs, they failed to do what it says on the tin! As the water seeped through to various parts of my inner clothing I had a sense of resignation that made me feel quite at ease with the situation. I knew that this was going to be a long day, 370 miles of motorway riding was just one of those things that had to be done, so I accepted it and just cracked on.
On the seven and a half hour journey I had plenty of time to reflect on the trip and something else that, for me, was ‘the fly in the ointment’ about Jersey, was exactly that, insects.
The six souvenirs I brought from the island in the form of large red itchy blobs on my skin, courtesy of a run in with a couple of (now deceased) mozzies, was a reminder that the island did seem to have a lot of flying insects. This maybe was partly due to the unusually hot weather, but there was a stark difference between Jersey and Guernsey in this respect where the latter allowed Reg and me to remain quite ‘splatter free’. The 35mph speed limit on Guernsey could be an environmental measure to allow wee flying beasties the opportunity to avoid being the souvenir on the front of some vehicle, or maybe just out-fly them? Seriously though, I will look back at the two islands in a different light, I had to keep my visor down all the time on Jersey but certainly not on Guernsey.
Thanks again for following me. Next trip starts in under three weeks, but as I will be with friends it may not be ‘blogged’.
Gorgeous Triton as you say immaculate π What a garage! I would never see Phil if he had one like that π Great photos. Hope your mozzie bites disappear soon π¦

Your photos are so sharp and the colours so real. I love the post box!
You’ll be glad to be home. Where next?

Youβre right Rachel would have loved the post box cover and would have designed and produced her own, which no doubt would have been superior. She was so very able and talented. Good to know that you fed the wildlife of Jersey as I did in Maine ππ nasty little beasties! X
