Coincidence

After yesterday’s hard but enjoyable ride, we had time to kill today before our 4.30pm ferry back to Denmark. I suggested to Jacob that as we had both (separately) been to Norway’s most northerly point, maybe we should visit its most southerly? A fairly minor diversion taking us just over two hours, followed by a 90 minute ride to the ferry port.

Whether it was due to it being my last day in Norway I’m not sure, but my mood, and riding style, were a little more reserved. In the back of my mind I suppose I was thinking that once I hit Danish soil it’d be a very purposeful 600 mile ride to the ferry at Rotterdam, although I would have two stopovers.

I enjoyed our ride along the winding country roads down to Lindenes Fyr, all the beautiful scenery being enhanced by the perfect weather. The lakes and rivers seemed to be bluer, the trees greener, the roads smoother, or maybe it was just the realisation that this was my last day in such a wonderful, if extortionately expensive, country?

As Jacob and I sat having a coffee at Lindenes, looking up at the lighthouse, I showed him a photograph of when I was last here. I was taken aback when he pointed out that it was exactly seven years to the day!

As the crow flies just a mere 1,500 miles to The Cape, as the Rocket rides more like 2,500 miles

I always get lost on ferries, lose my sense of direction and forget which garage deck I left the bike on and which stairway I should take back to it, well not this time! As I left the car deck I made a point of noting the information I would need for later. Reminiscent of a Michael McIntyre’s joke I thought ‘Ha, I won’t forget that’! C3, as in Star Wars C3PO.

Four hours on the ferry and it was time to head to the garage, R2……. no, D2……. no 🤦🏻‍♂️

The only Brit in the village!
Over forty bikes but only one Brit.
It was only right that I should have a pint ‘for old time’s sake’ and toast Jacob!
