As I sat in the dining room of the hotel having breakfast, I couldn’t help but pick up on the piped music ‘All by myself’, and just rolled my eyes. As if that wasn’t enough the following song was by Nilsson “Without you’. OMG, I was starting to think I’d come to the Lonely Hearts Breakfast Club by mistake! But it didn’t bug me, my frame of mind was such that rather than upsetting me I just laughed it off.

Every time I see the snowy peak of Teide emerge from behind the clouds I think ‘wow’, it never ceases to amaze me, and it’s one of the reasons I chose to stay on the north side of the island AND request a room with a mountain view. Teide is impressive from any angle, but the north side in winter and spring is worth the compromise of less guaranteed sunshine that the south and west offers. Even with the threat of rain it’s a comfortable 20c and I can cope with that.

I did a time lapse of the sunrise this morning, but to post it in the blog I have to run any videos through YouTube, the internet is dodgy here and I’ve used all my data up until Friday so you’ll have to make do with photos from the last three days.

In the late evening sun
As promised, La Orotava in the sunshine!
Some grizzly old dude!
Still a bit nippy on the tops!
Unfortunately this road to the western tip of the island was temporarily closed
To give you some idea of the road towards my favourite valley, that of Masca.
This and the following are today’s photos
Move over cops, Rocket coming through!
This evening I happened to stumble across a favourite sunset viewing spot!

I apologise for the lack of inspiration in the text, I think I’m losing drive to post on the blog, maybe partly due to the fact that I feel there’s not much more to say? Man with motorbike travelled to two Canary islands and then came home, which begins on Sunday.

  1. Divvent fret ont’ lack o’ words, lad. Pit-chers is enuf, eh? (As the locals might say)

…and yes, the time-lapse sunrise is worth waiting for (privileged early view 😜)

  2. Keep posting the pictures. Post words when you have them. How is the luggage set up working? Any trouble from the back brake?

It’s freezing here in Surrey, apparently snowing in Sheffield.

    Don’t rush back!

    1. Kreiga luggage is outstanding! Triumph luggage looks good and is ok. The rear brake is still working but nothing like just after it was serviced. I really wonder if there’s a bit of an issue so will be pursuing it 👍🏼

  3. A picture paints a thousand words and your photos say it all – how poetic is that 🤢. Enjoy your last few days and have some chill time. X

  4. The scenery is stunning! Just send pictures if you run out of ideas to write We’ll all be happy with that.
