Most important job on Friday morning was to go straight to the red light capital of the island, red traffic lights that is, to reclaim the T shirt I left in the hotel on Thursday night, old people eh? Once that was packed away on the bike it was off to ‘The Nadgeries’.
The Rally Dictionary
Nadgery: A section of route, frequently ‘not-as-map’, where competitive skill should be moderated to avoid a ‘moment’.
Yep, I’d agree with that.
I balance my motorcycling enthusiasm with my old age, and hopefully make the right equation, something akin to E=mc2 Einstein must’ve put mc in there due to his interest in motorcycles?
The island has so much more to offer than the beaches and usual attractions which bring the two week tourists here. That’s why I wanted to explore it more on my own bike. I’ve been fortunate to come to the island at least half a dozen times before, but never really had the opportunity to explore the way I have now. I know that I should chill, go for a swim, walk the promenades, maybe even a gentle jog or take in one of the many walks? But I’m obsessed with cramming in as much of the island as I can in such a short space of time!
So yet again I cannot resist heading out on the bike, this time to the north east corner, and yet I still didn’t see everything! So much to see and do, yet so little time! Many boxes ticked and many more to do. I have four full days left on this island before I head to nearby La Gomera where I have booked four nights, I’m not yet sure where after that.
Coco the Clown
I may have feet the size of Coco the Clown but now I’m adding the joke red nose! Open face crash helmets do exactly what it says on the tin, it exposes your face to the elements. So after two days of sunshine riding with my summer crash helmet on, I’m just about ready for Red Nose Day! Break out the factor 50.
Saturday – Nadgery 2
I won’t bore you with the cut and thrust of hairpin bends, I’ll let the photographs do the talking!
Ey Up
As I was unloading the bike on my return a couple, I would say in their early 70s, came over and the guy starting asking about it and my trip here. We chatted away about a few things so being polite, I asked them where they were from?
“Yorkshire, actually Ilkley, you may have heard of it”?
“Oh yes, I know Ilkley, my daughter’s boyfriend’s dad lives there”.
“Oh, we may know him, what’s his name”?
“Gibbons”
“We know Mike very well, has a Jag with a personal plate on it, used to be the mayor of Bradford, we do a lot together. Tell him Georges, the French Yorkshireman, and his wife Ban were asking after him”
We said our farewells and they went away shaking their heads and chuckling away in disbelief! It’s a funny old world.
Love the roads! Very impressive bit of nadgerie that 😁
Watching you in the sun, riding a stunning motorcycle round beautiful island and mountain scenery on first class roads… whilst sitting here listening to the wind howling down the chimney and the rain hammering on the windows makes me yearn that our September trip was coming sooner 😜… like tomorrow 🤣🤣🤣
😆👍🏼
Loved the video Brian and the photos as per usual are great. Supposed to be a good walking trail at Masca. Isn’t the backdrop at los gigantes lovely 🗻⛰. At least you will come home with a suntan from Tenerife – I came back from North East with a stinking cold. 🤧🤧
Oh dear!😬 (cold) Yeah there’s some great scenery and the temperature so far has been perfect for biking!
A funny old world indeed, as well we know 🤔
What a lovely day. Scenery and weather perfect. Great photos.
I think I would have been nauseous if I was riding those roads though, not that I can ride a motorcycle!
😆 yeah, maybe not for everyone Yvonne! 😆
Great pictures, it certainly is a small world sometimes, Brian. X
